Abstract
  • This auto-ethnographic and ethnographic research will draw upon theology of place to determine if the practice of contemplative prayer creates place where boundaries between God, self, and neighbor are transgressed. The primary displacement of self potentially serves to make room for God and the neighbor. This work argues that the habitual kenotic practice of contemplative prayer may open participants for engagement in the neighborhood, allowing for a wide, dynamic and particular place-making where self is freed for mission within and without the church.
