Abstract
  • This study employed a mixed methods approach to research in order to assess how effectively Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri is fulfilling its stated institutional mission. Together, the quantitative and qualitative aspects of this study revealed that Concordia is a strong academic institution that effectively imparts theological knowledge that is foundational for pastoral ministry, and that it successfully teaches its students to think theologically. The study also identified areas where improvement is still needed, primarily, the perceived disconnect between what is being said and taught and learned in classrooms and the actual practice of real-world mission and ministry.
