- Female identity formation is achieved by using the separation-individuation process in object-relations theory and using female images of God in feminist theology in the midst of the relationship with the therapist as female seminary students explore the relationship with self, others, and God. In the therapy, the client's current relationships and sense of self are improved by investigating patterns in family-of-origin relationships. The client's relationship with God and sense of self are enhanced by exploring female images of God. Clients who reach Female Identity Formation feel more rooted and more hopeful in their relationships with self, others, and God.
