Abstracto

The scope of this project is to engage a Southern Baptist congregation in a significant confrontation with their doctrine of sanctification through the imagery of a spiritual journey. Initiating the project was a survey of a congregation's perception of faith. Results of the survey reflected the need of Baptists to address the place of experience after the 'born again' event, a lack of discipline, and the influence others have on an individual's spiritual growth. At the end of the project a survey was taken that showed Southern Baptists can develop an understanding of spirituality as journey. The conclusion recognizes the unbalanced approach of evangelism over spiritual growth; understanding sanctification as journey can help restore balance.
