  • The purpose of this project was to discover if personal computers could be introduced into a church setting for religious instruction and to evaluate the effectiveness of computer-assisted Bible instruction (CAI) in comparison with traditional means. Two groups received the same material on the book of Amos. The traditional group was more passive and, consequently, did not learn as much. The CAI group was more active in the learning process, and their scores were better. If a teacher cannot be physically present in a classroom but may teach only by CAI, then this method can be as effective as conventional teaching.
