The scope of the dissertation was to study 1 Samuel 16 to 24; 1 Kings 1 to 2 and 1 Chronicles 11 to 29 covering David's original family and his personal growth; his relationship with his three main wives: Michal, Abigail and Bathsheba; and the interactions among him and his five children: Amnon, Tamar, Absalom, Solomon and Adonijah. From the study, it derived the factors that contribute to the success and failure of David's family so that they could be applied to today's marriage and family relationships with integrations of corresponding contemporary psychological and counseling studies.
