Abstract
  • The aim of this project was to involve laypersons in generating ideas for, providing input in, and evaluating the effectiveness of sermons. The project provided a formal structure for mutual sharing between clergy and laity, with the intent of meeting felt needs within the congregation. The methodology involved a survey of the congregation to surface needs, the training of a group of people to give feedback to the preacher, and discussion to prepare sermons and to evaluate their effectiveness. This project uncovered needs within the congregation and helped the preacher to focus sermons to speak better to those needs.
