  • This thesis argues that engaging in a long-term matrix of conversations that model biblical hospitality through preaching, teaching, discussion of written material and experience of extending hospitality, will be helpful to a congregation in moving through barriers that have limited its ability to reach out to the community. The congregation is a small Presbyterian church located across the street from a Presbyterian-related liberal arts college, in north-west Texas, where the community and church are in transition. The learning includes conversational preaching as a way to engage the congregation in expanding and deepening their embodiment of faith as it relates to biblical hospitality.
