  • This project examines the theory and practice involved in the idea that parents, other people, and events are very important in young children's faith development. After an examination and evaluation of John Westerhoff and James Fowler's work in faith development, interviews were undertaken with adults, young children, and clergypersons. Parents and all members of the faith community are vital in young children's faith development processes. The faith community must be intentional in providing programs equipping and supporting the above in environments where young children can experience and hear about the faith. The processes should begin as early as possible after birth.
