- The author theorized that extant literature dedicated to the study of the Old Testament narrative texts neglected their theological study, and proposed an interpretive model to guide interpreters to theologically valid sermon applications from Old Testament narratives. The author surveyed pertinent literature for critical interpretive questions and found his hypothesis to be correct. Using a grounded theory inductive research design, he built an interpretive model consisting of eleven steps utilizing twenty-three questions. He demonstrated use of the model by applying it to Exodus 34:29-35 and 2 Samuel 9:1-13, suggesting theologically valid sermon applications from each text.
