  • The thesis of this project is that the absence of a dominant model for ordained parish ministry in the Baptist General Conference contributes to the problem of conflicting expectations for ordained parish ministry. This project tests the presence of nine ministry models or role-sets in the Conference through a random survey of senior pastors, laity, Bethel Seminary faculty, national and district leaders. The research reveals the absence of a dominant model, agrees with the typology of the Conference as a Type A Evangelical denomination and reveals other contributing factors to conflict in ministry.
