Abstract
  • Through mutual critical correlation of selected theological and psychological literature and data gathered from patients and their family members in a chemical dependency treatment facility, this paper defines what spirituality means in the literature of addictionology. It also compares that definition with a Tillichian understanding of addiction. Finally, a practical theology of addictionology, set within the framework of Don Browning's first three levels of practical moral thinking, is presented.
