  • Traditionally, lepers were totally alienated by the healthy community in Korean society. Children afflicted with leprosy were alienated and had an especially hard time adjusting to society. These children are physically normal but are social outcasts because of such problems as family background, living environment, educational situation, social restrictions, and psychological conflicts or anxieties. The purpose of this project is to produce a unique educational program for children of leprosy victims in the Yosu Aeyangwon area in Korea. The characteristics of the children not infected with leprosy are reviewed, the results of the program and reactions are described and actual implementational programs suggested.
