Abstracto

The author's purpose was to promote unity and diversity in an older rural congregation. He designed a questionnaire on the Likert Response model to measure commitment, fellowship, power, change, unity and values. This instrument was used as a pre-test and a post-test. His treatment involved a sermon series, a core group and a congregational retreat. The data reveals that congregational unity increased during the implementation. The study revealed that the traditional values of this congregation are in transition as a result of the 'Farm Crisis' of the 1980's.
