- This research project involved a survey of 337 women who received the M. Div. degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary from 1975-2000 (inclusive). The project had three main goals: 1) to determine the occupations of women graduates as of March 2002; 2) to determine how many graduates had left, or did not begin, professional ministry; 3) to understand and document the factors surrounding the graduates' decisions to leave or not begin ministry. Results indicated that 32% of subjects were not in active ministry. The paper includes extensive interview transcripts, statistical charts, and a theological overview of women's ordination.
