- This paper consists of three parts. After an introduction to multi-site church concepts, this ecclesiology develops from Scripture five essential characteristics of a local church and then applies them to multi-site churches. Those characteristics are union with Christ, Word-based proclamation, community and belonging, leadership and structure, and mission. The ecclesiological issues the multi-site church movement needs to pay unique attention to include: unity and ministry between church members who attend different sites, shepherding by the leaders, the potential pitfalls of video preaching and a deficiency in world missions.
