Grounded in the experience of women, this project develops a feminist pastoral counseling theory and praxis model for empowering woman's authentic self in the context of a patriarchal culture and sexist society. Methodology includes: (1) Attending to woman's experience affecting her sense of self; (2) Deconstructing patriarchal dominance and violence impacting woman's sense of self (gender wounds); (3) Reconstructing a feminist interdisciplinary conversation between relational psychology (Jean Baker Miller, relational cultural theory), and relational theology (Rosemary Ruether, Carter Heyward).
