  • The purpose of this project was to design an educational process whereby a select number of laity, the licensed lay readers of an Episcopal parish, along with the rector, could be involved with those who wished their children baptized in order to gain an understanding of the sacrament of baptism as expressed by the rite found in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and to evaluate whether such a joint clergy-lay venture is workable and worth continuing in the future. Four laypersons and the rector participated in the training and catechesis. The evaluation recommended continuing the program.
