  • The purpose of this practicum/project was to demonstrate that cultural lifestyle concepts can be utilized in providing a more meaningful worship experience in the local church. It utilized the gathering of demographic information to identify cultural lifestyles present in a congregation and community. Unexpected results necessitated a closer examination of the data. Possible reasons for the discrepancies were considered. After examining the data, focus groups were organized from within the congregation to critique and participate in planning worship. The project revealed serious questions concerning cultural lifestyle theory. It also determined that despite these concerns, participants did perceive worship as more directly related to their life experience when they participated in evaluation and planning.
