  • This project examined whether twenty-three steps leading to the graduate characteristics for members of the discipleship/recovery program at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission were appropriate, attainable, and measurable. It identified social and personal reasons for addiction, and by a series of interviews and questionnaires with present and past members of the program, with mission staff, volunteers in churches and other recovery programs, it determined that the steps did lead to the outcomes, but that they needed to reflect better progression, relapse prevention, and emotional growth. These changes were incorporated into the program.
