  • The purpose of this project is to demonstrate that local churches involved in community service have greater evangelistic opportunities and impact. 'Servant evangelism' is explored from a biblical perspective and advocated as a model for today's church. Emphasis is given to North American Baptist Conference churches, the author's denomination. The approach taken includes: 1. Surveying 110 NAB churches; 2. Interviewing six pastors (4 NAB and 2 others); 3. Teaching a class on servant evangelism in the author's home church. Class outlines for these ten sessions are included in an appendix. Additional chapters focus on biblical and theological perspectives; teaching and promoting servant evangelism in the church; evaluation and suggestions for further application. Of special value to pastors are the chapters on teaching servant evangelism and servant evangelism as a strategy for today's church.
