  • Humor was researched from a theological perspective to discover whether it has validity within the context of the church, the faith of the individual, and the ministry of the pastoral caregiver. Since humor is part of the nature of God, it should also be a part of the nature of the individual and the church, and used in areas of pastoral care. Documentation is presented which shows that humor has therapeutic qualities. Humor serves as a necessary counterbalance to the serious nature of life, allows an individual to experience transcendence, redemption, and to express joy of one's salvation.
