Abstract
  • The writer proposes a blended discipline for conceptualization of pastoral group therapy. The blend consists of theological issues from a pastoral counseling perspective and Irvin Yalom's theory of group therapy from a secular stance. Academic research draws from works by some of the founders of pastoral counseling in this country and from Yalom's book on group therapy. Clinical research focuses on the experience of the members in the group the writer co-leads. A model for pastoral group therapy is proposed and evaluated by persons from the fields of ministry and secular therapy. The model is assessed as a viable one.
