- This dissertation documents the process by which Genesis United Methodist Church sought to discover its mission identity and become vital to the community in which it ministers through the methodologies of Action Research. Genesis is an inner city community church located in Louisville, Kentucky. The intent of the project was to discover an approach having the potential to transform an introverted survival church into a vital faith-based urban empowerment center. The qualitative research methodology provided a reflective base for a spectrum of action projects that included tutoring, childcare, computer training, a recording studio, and the Genesis Community Development Corporation.
