When ministers receive the call to ministry, rarely do they begin ministry planning on ever leaving. Yet every year in every denomination, another minister leaves the ministry due to moral failure or burnout. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the controllable factors which effect longevity in ministry. Through a combination of research including a biblical/theological and literature review as well as survey research, statistical analysis and descriptive research, this thesis proposes that there are certain controllable factors which, when implemented, make leaving ministry less likely. The result of this thesis/project was the production of a document entitled 'Ministry for Life' which contains the information gathered from the research listed above. This document was distributed to every Free Methodist pastor in the Wabash Conference in an attempt to effect the longevity in ministry of these pastors.
