  • The central claim of this document is that peace/peacemaking is the heart of the ministry of the church. The author conducts exegetical study of shalom and eirene in the Hebrew and Christian Testaments and traditions. She identifies human communion, harmony, wholeness, and equilibrium as primary to God's purpose for humanity and thus to the very ministry to which the church is called. An integrated learning model based upon these biblical concepts is tested by an ecumenical group of adults that confirms the thesis. A manual based on the integrated learning model, which can be used in a variety of learning contexts, outlines study plans for groups of twelve to sixteen members.
