Abstract
  • Systems theory can aid in the teaching of confirmation by guiding the process, not the content, if correctly applied. The 'Parable of the Sower' model will help do this. Process: Students were exposed to biblical stories and reflected upon them in light of the fifth petition of the Lord's Prayer in connection with Jesus' post-resurrection appearance command (John 20:23). Changes in their answers to the same questions before and after the process were evaluated. Conclusion: The fourth year of the study showed a significant increase in the students understanding of forgiveness and its centrality in Christian life and reduction in the stated use of vengeance as a means to solve disputes.
