The primary focus of the study is the question: How does possession of wealth influence the spiritual health of an endowed congregation? By means of literary research and a survey of 117 individuals representing endowed United Churches of Christ, the study gathered data on wealth and descriptive statistics on church vitality. The survey acquired information through mail response and by interview. The study registered a surprising rate of return and generally resulted in a favorable response to the practice of endowment. The author concluded by cautiously advocating the practice of endowment for funding local church ministries.
