- Abstract
- This project employs future-oriented statements developed from solution-focused brief therapy and Michael White's approach to narrative therapy to assisted bereaved persons in reconstructing a future in which they may cope effectively with their grief. Complicate bereavement grief is the distortion or loss of future stories. Healing is achieved primarily through language. The eschatological emphasis of the gospel is the primary template that shapes this future-oriented ministry of possibilities. The project uses two case studies to illustrate the contribution of pastoral counseling in relating personal stories of bereaved people to the hopeful, sacred story of the gospel.
