Abstract
  • Evaluation is critical for improving missionary training in the college setting. Criteria for evaluation are that training be biblically based, theologically sound, theoretically coherent, culturally relevant and practically applicable. Biblical-theological research and evaluation methodology guided this study. Documents and surveys supplied data to assess the context of Baptist Bible College. Interviews of mission agency staff clarified expectations for applicants. Literature from relevant disciplines provided theoretical input. A survey of missionaries and pastors informed cultural and practical issues, validated a missionary competency profile and confirmed limitations of the classroom. The project incited improvements and influenced overall program review at Baptist Bible College.
