The project and research contended that the tradition and practice of spiritual direction can be instrumental for preaching. Through a series of sermons and small group reflection and analysis, the researcher demonstrated the viable resource spiritual direction can be for preaching. Important conclusions include the addition if a question to the process of sermon preparation (what spiritual discipline or direction in in view of this text?), and the consideration of how a sermon combines instruction, inspiration, and opportunity when it comes to the practice of spiritual disciplines.
