  • The purpose of this project was to impact the spiritual and relational well-being of a select group of injured, ill or wounded soldiers being treated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center's (WRAMC) outpatient program through using the prayer of lament. Soldiers were administered a pre-test/posttest quantitative design to measure the differences that came from participating in the four-week prayer project aimed at premeditating combat experiences. The project discovered improvements in spiritual and relational well-being based on the participant's responses, including greater knowledge of the biblical laments, increased positive relationship with oneself, God and others. An overall increase in spiritual resiliency was also indicated as participants dealt with past combat trauma and equipped themselves for future life transitions.
