- Abstract
- This Doctor of Ministry project addresses the need for training local pastors in a multi-church district to develop lay leaders to do Bible-based preaching. The majority of Seventh-day Adventist churches in Texas are in a district consisting of two or three churches that share one pastor. The district pastor often can not be in every church each week, creating a need for lay leaders to preach. This D.Min. project is divided into two sections. The first three weeks of this project will equip the local pastor to become a mentor to lay leaders in order to help them develop skills in Bible-based preaching. During the next six weeks, each pastor will lead in a workshop that is designed to assist one or both lay leaders in their development and delivery of a Bible-based, Christ-centered sermon. This project will broaden the teaching skills of the pastors, and local lay leaders will be better equipped to service when they are called upon to preach.
