  • This project examined the question of how to effectively and appropriately preach sermons based on non-narrative biblical texts. Homiletical literature was studied and three methodologies were chosen as the basis for six sermons on texts from Romans. The sermons were evaluated by a committee of lay people. The evaluations indicated: image and narrative are crucial in preaching non-narrative texts; sermons must be constructed with a sense of movement; no single method of exegesis was superior to the others; preachers must develop a personal preaching methodology.
