  • This project observes how the contemplative approach to spiritual direction aids women religious deal with depression by directing their attention to God and the action of God rather than limiting the focus to the depression and self-absorption. The research includes some reflections on depression in relation to desolation, consolation and the 'dark night', uses Teresa of Avila as an insightful resource and includes case studies based on a minimum of 35 direction sessions.
