Abstract
  • The author sought to engage lay people in a critical analysis of economic life through simultaneous exposure to Luke 16 and to people in need. He did so with the conviction that such exposure could address creatively the relationship between lay people and poor people and also challenge relatively rich Christians to wrestle with the influence of materialism. Qualitative data was gathered in group study of the text and in personal interviews with participants. The research revealed the complexity of these issues and the compelling opportunity the church has to address them for the sake of our lay people.
