  • The study investigates and surveys a randomly selected population of active duty chaplains in the U S Armed Forces on a military installation, toward the efficacy of the hymnal section in the 1974 edition of the Book of Worship, to fulfill spiritual and worship needs of present and future generations of military personnel. The research employed a descriptive/historical research design to obtain self-reported observations to open-end variable in a 'command' approved 'Hymnal Revision Questionnaire.' The findings of the descriptive research tended to support the study hypothesis, that a majority of chaplains would agree to revising the hymnal.
