- The purpose of this project is to lead the Northside Baptist Church, Lamesa, Texas, to turn from a passive and declining congregation into a living and growing body of believers. The project will include preaching an eleven-week series of sermons on Sunday mornings that focus on five biblical functions and four specific needs of the church. The functions and needs include evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, worship, commitment, organization, vision, and prayer. In addition, a series of lessons will be taught on Wednesday nights that focus on the same functions and needs. However, the Wednesday lessons will differ from the Sunday sermons by highlighting different aspects. A better understanding of the functions and needs should result in developing effective ministries. The aim of the series is to present the need for a shift in ministry focus that leads the church to revitalization and both spiritual and numerical growth. New ministry options will be explored and examined by a Task Force. The church will be encouraged to look beyond maintenance of present internal ministries.
