  • Acting as a community spiritual director, the preacher seeks to invite and initiate spiritual renewal in the lives of the assembly through liturgical preaching which is grounded in the Word of God and the rituals and structures of the liturgy. The author studied the formational connections between the preacher and the liturgical assembly. Utilizing small theological and liturgical reflection groups within a parish, the author describes the development of a common language of lived experience within the parish. Liturgical preaching seeks to use this common language to further the dialogue between God and everyday life in transforming the lives of the faithful and grounding effective, imaginal preaching.
