- Many Black Baptist Church leaders today argue (claiming St Paul's support) for more widespread ordination of women leaders. As other denominations ordain more women, the same course should be seriously considered in the Black Baptist churches. This thesis unfolds in seven chapters: (1) goal, methodology, and key terms; (2) analysis of surveys indicating increasing openness to the ordination of Black Baptist women; (3 and 4) the description of a group of seven Black women gathered to 'love one another into wholeness and action' as living models of ecclesial womanhood; (5) a biblico-theological investigation; (6) suggestions for the formation of similar groups; (7) responses to objections.
