Abstract
  • The completion of Truman Dam and Reservoir in Missouri in 1979 impacted the local population and culture negatively, causing alienation. This project was done as a ministry of reconciliation. Its purpose was to get churches in the lake area to appropriate as their own a new chaplaincy program to campers on the lake. The author experienced the chaplaincy program as a supervisor to the chaplain in the summer of 1982. Out of the experience, the author developed materials, an oral presentation, a booklet, and newspaper articles to promote the adoption of the new ministry by local churches.
