Abstracto

Adolescents best assimilate Christian values when they experience them in the context of Christian community. The elements from the Kairos retreat program were distilled and included in a high school freshman program designed to initiate and integrate the freshman class more quickly. The result was an earlier incorporation of that particular freshman class into the community. Peer ministry (six students with five faculty) and appropriate symbols were utilized. The study demonstrated the effectiveness of lateral ministry in conveying Jesus' message of peace, justice and love (Christian values) by a good experience of Christian community.
