  • The project investigated effective multiple staff ministries in local parishes with ordained men and ordained women, identifying both pitfalls and benefits compared with single-sex staff. At the heart of the project were on-site focused interviews with seven staffs (one being a married couple), serving in three major Protestant denominations in varying geographic and socio-economic settings in the Northeast. Although the data was insufficient to draw statistical conclusions, data suggested that these ministries can be effective in symbolic value, diversified gifts, and wider specializations. Problems stemmed from violating basic principles of effective staff relationships rather than originating from specifically sex-related issues.
