This doctor of ministry project addresses the unique settings facing military personnel. Written by a navy chaplain with more than eight years ministry to the military, the basic training manual was designed to challenge and encourage sailors and Marines in their relationship to Christ. The author discusses the lack of ministry materials written specifically for the military and their affordability. He also notes that many military personnel face significant deficits in reading ability. Each of these issues are addressed in the thesis. The thesis discusses the manual's development, the field test, and the procedures taken to complete this project.
