  • This thesis sought to develop a form of preaching that effectively presents the stories of Scripture as the foundation for shaping personal identity by producing a collision between the narratives of the secular culture and civil religion (metanarratives) on the one hand and the narratives of the Bible on the other. The method of study used was the Pro-Active qualitative research method described in William Myers' book, Research in ministry: a primer for the Doctor of Ministry program. The thesis concludes that the style of preaching proposed is the most effective in influencing the transformation of personal identity.
