This project is an investigation into some of the factors involved in the decision to leave the parish ministry by some members of the Southern New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The study was limited to those who had spent a minimum of five years in the parish after becoming ordained. An attempt was made to look at roles, family dynamics, and relationships with the system of the denomination. All subjects were mailed questionnaires, and a portion of the subjects were interviewed. The major finding was that, regardless of the reasons for leaving, none of the subjects felt that the denomination cared.
