  • The author's thesis is: the catechumenate is a viable and effective process for mission renewal in a congregaion, both in terms of making and sustaining disciples and reviving the evangelistic mindset of the congregation. The paper reflects reading and research in the structure and implications of mission renewal and the catechumenate. Then the author describes and reflects upon a first year's experience with the catechumenate in his congregation. Based on feedback from the new adult disciples and from the congregation, as well as constructive reflection from the pastor-author, the stage is set for continuing this journey.
