Abstract
  • The study examines pastoral counseling in a parish. A survey was taken of United Presbyterian pastors at an annual Presbytery retreat in September, 1981. Sixty valid surveys (77U) were returned and a feed-back event was held six months later. Conclusions were: 1) Pastors need to look to a different role model than psychotherapy; 2) Pastors need to beome more aware of the stage-theory of faith development; 3) Pastors need to improve their facilitative skills; and 4) Training events need to be developed for the above.
