- Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, is a theologically-conservative Episcopal seminary attracting predominantly white suburban middle-class students presumptively not previously exposed to social ministry. The author introduced to the seminary curriculum a course presenting social ministry tools and practices. This paper offers a working definition of 'social ministry,' a review of that construct in Scripture and Church history, and an assessment of the likelihood of students becoming social ministry practitioners. Older male and younger female students as well as students with previous helping profession involvement were more likely than others to consider future social ministry engagement.
