The dissertation/project addresses the needs of people who, through necessity or personal preference, plan to make a spiritual retreat without the assistance of a preacher or director. Following a general introduction and three preparatory essays, reading material is provided which focuses each day, in a definite sequence, on one or more of the representative figures of St John's gospel.
